1. Introduction
This article describes the integration of Fronius solar or hybrid inverter with the Reduxi system. The integration is based on the MODBUS communication via ethernet.
The following models are supported:
- Symo GEN24, https://www.fronius.com/en/solar-energy/installers-partners/products/all-products/inverters/fronius-symo-gen24/symo-gen24-3-0
- Symo GEN24 Plus, https://www.fronius.com/en/solar-energy/installers-partners/products/all-products/inverters/fronius-symo-gen24-plus/fronius-symo-gen24-3-0-plus
- Primo GEN24, https://www.fronius.com/en/solar-energy/installers-partners/products/all-products/inverters/fronius-primo-gen24/fronius-primo-gen24-3-0
- Primo GEN24 Plus, https://www.fronius.com/en/solar-energy/installers-partners/products/all-products/inverters/fronius-primo-gen24-plus/fronius-primo-gen24-3-0-plus
- SnapINverter
Other information about the Fronius inverters can be found here.
2. Configuration of Fronius inverter
Please follow the original documentation from Fronius! Here are some useful links:
https://manuals.fronius.com/html/4204260388/en-US.html#0_m_0000021534
The network and Modbus configurations are the main configuration points that connect the Fronius inverter to the Reduxi environment.
2.1. Install the Solar.start application
Install the Fronius Solar.start application from Google play or App store.
The application will guide you through the installation steps.
For more details see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2i5VPvf3tI
2.2. Configure network
To configure the network you can use the app or connect directly to the hotspot of the Fronius inverter.
For more details, please see the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcwCZo-8dqc and
https://manuals.fronius.com/html/4204260388/en-US.html#0_m_0000021534
Check the connection and write down the IP since you will need it later when configuring Reduxi.
2.3. Configure Modbus
First, the Fronius inverters need to be configured to support Modbus control. Please open Fronius application and configure Modbus settings as shown in the images below
Gen24 / Verto / Tauro:
or SnapINverter
See also https://manuals.fronius.com/html/4204260388/en-US.html#0_m_0000021662 for more details.
Write down the port and address, since you will need it later.
3. Integration with Reduxi system
To be able to control the Fronius inverter from the Reduxi system, the specific Fronius device needs to be added. To add a device, please follow the steps described in section "7. Devices" of Reduxi Configurator.
In the menu for adding devices, please select the corresponsing device type (Solar power plant, Battery or hybrid) and select the specific type (e.g. Symo).
In the Communication channel setting, please enter the IP, port and Modbus unit IDs, that you have configured in the previous step. See an example below:
4. Verification and testing
After everything is connected and integrated, you can test the functionality through manually defined setpoints.
Select Reduxi/Devices/Fronius... Manual mode. Experiment with different setpoints and observe the response.
If everything is working fine, congratulations. You can define the strategies, connect to cloud application and enjoy the comfort of automatic control.
Disclaimer:
The integration has been tested only on Symo GEN24 and Symo. In case of issues, please contact our helpdesk.
