1. Components for establishing a connection to a smart meter Siemens IM350/IM150
Components:
- Reduxi controller in some cases Reduxi Gateway device if needed as an add-on device.
- Converter P1 to RS485.
- PoE Injector with one RJ12 male and female connector (device is needed to establish external supply to data line).
- One cable with two RJ12 male connectors.
2. Physical connection between the P1 port on the smart meter to the Reduxi Controller with P1/RS485 converter.
NOTE: Siemens IM350/ IM150 needs an EXTERNAL SUPPLY to activate readings from P1.
2.1 Connection with P1/RS485 converter:
Connection, description:
- P1 port on the smart meter to PoE Injector with cable with two male RJ12 connectors.
- Male RJ12 connector of PoE Injector to female connector on P1/RS485 converter.
- RS485 A and B PIN on P1/RS485 converter to A and B PIN on RS485-1 or RS485-2 on Reduxi controller.
- 0/+5 V PIN from Reduxi controller to supply input on PoE Injector --> supply connection for the data line.
On how to connect the Reduxi controller to the local network, please follow the link: How to connect Reduxi Controller?
2.2 Connection with P1/Wi-Fi converter:
Connection, description:
- P1 port on the smart meter to PoE Injector with cable with two male RJ12 connectors.
- Male RJ12 connector of PoE Injector to female connector on P1/Wi-Fi converter.
- 0/+5 V PIN from Reduxi controller to supply input on PoE Injector --> supply connection for the data line.
- Data transfer between the P1/Wi-Fi converter and Reduxi controller is established via the local network.
On how to connect the Reduxi controller to the local network, please follow the link: How to connect Reduxi Controller?
On how to connect P1/WiFi to the local network, please follow the link: Reduxi Converter P1 WiFi
3. PIN definition for P1 port smart meter interface
NOTE: Supply pins are defined for PIN 1 = +5V and PIN 2 = 0V

4. Adding a new device (Siemens IM350/IM150)
Log in locally to the Reduxi configurator application on the controller and press the Add device button.
4.1 Basic settings
Within the first step, basic settings are defined:
- Select Device type: Smart meter,
- Select Type: Siemens IM350 / IM150
- Name the device
4.2 Device Configuration for Communication Channel
The second step involves configuring the communication channel, which is essential for communication between devices.
The first part of the Communication Channel settings:
The second part of the Communication Channel:
Extra two parameters are needed:
- Block cipher key (obtained from local DSO)
- Message structure (depends on DSO)
4.3 Test communication
Below all fields of the Communication channel mentioned in the previous step, there is a "Test Communication" button. This button is used to verify whether the connection between the devices is functioning correctly.

4.4 Advance settings
This section is used if the special needs of the location must be met. By default, nothing needs to be changed under Advanced settings.
5. Readings from Device
The purpose of this point is to show how to check readings from the device. This is done under 'Device/ Siemens IM350/150/Last measurement'.
Once the device is successfully added through the configurator, it can be monitored via the cloud application Reduxi.
