Photo of a white wall-mounted EV charging station with rounded corners, seen from the front at a slight angle. On the front: a faint outline of a battery or charger symbol connected to a car symbol, a faint card or phone tap symbol below it, a small round button with a blue light ring, and a black round socket with a hinged cover. The Metron logo is printed at the bottom. At the top right of the image, outside the device, there is a Wi-Fi symbol above a smartphone symbol.
1 Technical documentation
Manufacturer document for the Metron charger:
- Metron charging station Wi‑Fi quick installation guide (rev. 10) – How to connect the charger to the local network.
2 Required equipment
You need:
- Reduxi Controller
- Metron EVSE with Wi‑Fi or LAN connection
- Smartphone or laptop to open the Metron Charge Control application via the access point of the EVSE
- Local Wi‑Fi or LAN network for the EVSE and the Reduxi Controller
- Laptop or tablet with internet access to configure the device in Reduxi
3 Connect the Metron charger to the local network
The Metron EV charger connects to Wi‑Fi or to a local LAN network.
3.1 Connection to Wi‑Fi or LAN
Follow the quick installation guide: https://eauto.si/metron-shop/wp-content/uploads/Metron-CHARGING-STATION-WiFi-QUICK-INSTALLATION-GUIDE-rev.10.pdf
- LAN: the IP address is defined by DHCP, or you set a static IP manually.
- Wi‑Fi: write the SSID and the password of the Wi‑Fi network to the Metron EVSE.
- LAN always has priority over Wi‑Fi.

6 Add the Metron EVSE to Reduxi
Create the OCPP communication between the Metron EVSE and the Reduxi Controller.
6.1 Basic settings
Log in to the local Reduxi Configurator (see Point 5) and click + Add device.

Screenshot of the left sidebar of the Reduxi Configurator. Top: reduxi logo with the text CONFIGURATOR. Collapsed sections: Devices (plus icon) and Strategies (plus icon). Below, two buttons side by side: Add device (plus icon, marked with a blue highlight box) and Add strategy (plus icon). Below them two entries: Settings and Profile. The area to the right of the sidebar is empty white.
In the first step, select the basic settings:
- Device type:
EV charger - Type:
OCPP 1.6 - JSON - Name: a name of your choice

Screenshot of the Reduxi Configurator add-device wizard, step 1 of 3. Progress bar with three steps: 1 Basic settings (active, black circle), 2 Communication channel (grey), 3 Advanced settings (grey). Heading: Basic settings. Fields: Device type * : empty dropdown; Type * : empty dropdown; Name * : empty text field. Buttons: Back (bottom left), Next (bottom right, dark).
6.2 Communication settings
The second step sets the communication channel for OCPP. Copy the Device identifier (Station unique identifier) from the Metron Charge Control application into the first field. With OCPP JSON 1.6 the Reduxi Controller generates the server OCPP URL. You find the URL in the communication channel. Enter it in the Metron EVSE as described in Point 4.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Device identifier | Station unique identifier from the Metron Charge Control application. Example: 1234
|
| Server OCPP URL | Generated by the Reduxi Controller. Example: ws://10.150.120/ocpp/1.6/json/

6.3 Test communication
Click Test communication at the lower right, below the communication channel fields. It checks the OCPP communication and saves nothing. If the test succeeds, click Done: only Done creates the device.

7 Check the readings
7.1 Last measurements
After communication is established, check the readings of the new device under Devices – Last measurements in the Reduxi Configurator.

Card "Control type": a button group Auto (selected, turquoise), Manual, Off, Boost; timestamp 02. 10. 2024 15:47:17. Card "Current": Current L1 0.00 A; Current L2 0.00 A; Current L3 0.00 A; Max. current per phase 32.00 A; Per phase current setpoint 6.00 A (each with timestamp 02. 10. 2024 15:47:17). Card "Power": Import - active power 0.0 kW; Max. active power 22.1 kW; Min. active power 0.0 kW (timestamp 02. 10. 2024 15:47:17). Card "Energy": Import active energy 5,104.5 kWh (timestamp 02. 10. 2024 15:47:17). Card "Other": Communication error OFF (timestamp 02. 10. 2024 15:47:16); Control type AUTO; Error OFF; State name CABLE_UNPLUGGED... (text cut off with dots); timestamps 02. 10. 2024 15:47:17.
7.2 Enable control by Reduxi
For advanced EVSE control, integrate the device into the Reduxi strategy. Under Devices – Metron EVSE in the Reduxi Configurator, set the control type to AUTO. Only then do strategy commands affect the EVSE.
To achieve maximum flexibility and energy cost reduction with dynamic prices and dynamic tariffs, define a strategy as described in Strategies for Reduxi controller.
After the device is added, you can also monitor and control it in the Reduxi application.
✓ Summary
Preparation (Points 1–2): Open the quick installation guide and collect the equipment.
Metron EVSE (Points 3–4): Connect the EVSE to Wi‑Fi or LAN, then set the OCPP hostname, port and station identifier in the Metron Charge Control application.
Add to Reduxi (Points 5–6): Log in, add an OCPP 1.6 - JSON device with the station identifier as Device identifier, run Test communication and click Done.
Go live (Point 7): Check the last measurements and set the control type to AUTO.
→ Common issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Test communication: no device with OCPP 1.6 communication is found | Check the OCPP settings in the Metron EVSE: hostname, port 80 and station identifier (Point 4). The EVSE and the controller must be in the same network (Point 3). |
| EVSE connects over LAN instead of Wi‑Fi | LAN always has priority over Wi‑Fi (Point 3.1). |
| Open configurator does not open or stays empty | The tunnel is not active yet. Wait about 30 seconds and check that the controller is online. |
Login with admin is rejected |
The password was changed during installation. Ask the installer. The Reduxi account password does not work here. |
reduxi.local does not load |
Your device is not in the same network as the controller. Use the IP address or the tunnel connection. |
| Communication test fails, device shows offline | Check reachability, IP address / port / unit ID, and that the protocol is enabled on the device. |
