7 Test communication in Reduxi
Go back to the Reduxi Configurator and the settings of the new device. Click Test communication at the lower right. The test reads the charger once and saves nothing. If the test succeeds, click Done: only Done creates the device.
The test returns one of three results:
Text description of this image
Screenshot of a dialog titled Test communication in the Reduxi web interface, showing a successful test. Text in green: Successful readout from device. Values: Current L1: 0.0 A; Current L2: 0.0 A; Current L3: 0.0 A; Import active power: 0.0 W; Max. active power: 22080.0 W; Max. current per phase: 32.0 A; Min. active power: 0 W; State name: AVAILABLE null. Button: Close. Close cross at top right.

A line of the page behind the dialog is partly visible at the bottom edge (text cut off, ends with backend OCPP server).
8 Check the readings
8.1 Last measurements
After communication is established, check the values under Devices – EV charger in the Reduxi Configurator.
8.2 Enable control by Reduxi
Under Devices in the Reduxi Configurator, set the control type of the charger to AUTO. Only then do strategy commands affect the charger.
To control charging with dynamic prices and dynamic tariffs, define a strategy as described in Strategies for Reduxi controller.
✓ Summary
Preparation (Points 1–2): Collect the manuals and the equipment, including the charger serial number.
Charge Amps charger (Point 6): Install the Installer app, join the same Wi‑Fi network and paste the OCPP URL of the controller into CPMS Connection.
Add to Reduxi (Points 3–5, 7): Log in, set a static IP, add an OCPP 1.6 - JSON device with the serial number as Device identifier, run Test communication and click Done.
Go live (Point 8): Check the last measurements and set the control type to AUTO.
→ Common issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Test communication: Unable to communicate with device 1 | The Device identifier is not set or differs. Enter the serial number of the charger exactly (Point 5.2). |
| Test communication: No device with OCPP 1.6 communication is found | Check that the OCPP URL is entered in CPMS Connection (Point 6.4) and that the charger and the controller are in the same Wi‑Fi network (Point 6.3). |
| Open configurator does not open or stays empty | The tunnel is not active yet. Wait about 30 seconds and check that the controller is online. |
Login with admin is rejected |
The password was changed during installation. Ask the installer. The Reduxi account password does not work here. |
reduxi.local does not load |
Your device is not in the same network as the controller. Use the IP address or the tunnel connection. |
| Communication test fails, device shows offline | Check reachability, IP address / port / unit ID, and that the protocol is enabled on the device. |
