Cut energy costs by up to 70%: Reduxi integrates AlphaESS C&I Systems via Modbus TCP/IP.
1. Pysical connection
1.1 Modbus TCP/IP
A symbolic picture of the entire connection from the Reduxi controller to the Inverter is displayed below:
Note: To set up a connection via Modbus TCP, you need the latest Firmware on the Device.
To perform the update, please contact AlphaESS support directly via email: info@alpha-ess.com
The firmware update also activates TCP communication.
Once the update is complete, proceed with following step.
2. Activate External Control on the AlphaESS C&I System
To enable Reduxi to control the device, it must be configured accordingly.
This is done via the touchscreen on the AlphaESS.
Interface login credentials:
http://IP_aplhaESS:8085 address for battery interface.
user: admin
password: Alpha123!
1. On the Mainpage go to the second point "maintain"
2. then select ""Configuration Management"
3. atfer that Select "Basic Configuration"
4. Selecting the dispatch mode and switch to "External control mode"
Then save your entries by clicking "Save" in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Afterward, you can proceed to add the device to the Reduxi Controller.
3. Add AlphaESS C&I Storage System to the Reduxi system
After connecting the Reduxi and the AlphaESS C&I Device, you can register it as a new device.
3.1 Select Add device
First, log-in to the local Reduxi configurator and add a new device by clicking the "Add device" button.
3.2 Select AlphaESS C&I Device
Depending on the device you are using, proceed as follows:
- If you are using a TB 125, proceed to the next step.
-
If you are using a G2-H30, G2-H50, or H50-G3, skip to step 3.3.1 AlphaESS G2-H30/H50 & H50-G3
3.2.1 AlphaESS TB 125
Within the first step, basic settings are defined:
- Select Device type: Battery,
- Select Type: AlphaESS TB 125,
-
Name the device as you wish - as an example: AlphaESS TB 125
Pressing the "next" button will take you to the next step.
The next step involves configuring the communication channel, which is essential for proper Modbus communication. In this step, the communication link between the Reduxi controller and the AlphaESS is established.
3.2.2 Device Configuration for Communication Channel
- Connection: TCP/IP
- IP: Enter the IP address of the AlphaESS TB 125 or use the Scan for IP Button
Important: When using the scan button, you must select the corresponding IP address from the list that appears and add it by pressing the "select IP" button. - Port: 502
- Modbus unit ID: same as the ID of the Inverter (as default 1)
After you have made all the settings, go to step 3.4 Test communication and follow the remaining instructions.
3.3.1 AlphaESS G2-H30/H50 & H50-G3
Within these first step, basic settings are defined:
- Select Device type: Hybrid Inverter,
- Select Type: AlphaESS G2-H30/H50, H50-G3,
-
Name the device as you wish - as an example: AlphaESS G2-H30
Pressing the "next" button will take you to the next step.
The next step involves configuring the communication channel, which is essential for proper Modbus communication. In this step, the communication link between the Reduxi controller and the AlphaESS is established.
3.3.2 Device Configuration for Communication Channel
- Connection: TCP/IP
- IP: Enter the IP address of the AlphaESS G2-H30 or use the Scan for IP Button
Important: When using the scan button, you must select the corresponding IP address from the list that appears and add it by pressing the "select IP" button. - Port: 502
- Modbus unit ID: same as the ID of the Inverter (as default 1)
3.4 Test communication
Below all fields of the Communication channel mentioned in the previous step, there is a "Test Communication" button.
This button is used to verify whether the Modbus connection between the devices is functioning correctly.
Successful response (example):
Unsuccessful response (example):
In this case, please check Settings, wiring and try again.
If the communication test was successful, save your entries by selecting the "Done" button:
3.5 Readings from Device
This section shows you how to check the device's measured values and whether it is communicating correctly. This can be done under "Devices /AlphaESS Device/Last Measurement."
For advanced control, integrate the device into the Optimization modes of the Reduxi system.
Under Devices/AlphaESS Device in the Reduxi configurator, the control type must be set to AUTO so that commands for strategy will affect the battery.
To achieve maximal flexibility and energy cost reduction with respect to dynamic price and dynamic tariffs, please follow the instructions on how to define strategy at this link: Strategies for Reduxi controller.
After successfully adding the device, it can be monitored and controlled via the Reduxi application.
