1. Physical Connection
- RS485 A (D+)
- RS485 B (D−)
- optional GND
Connect as follows:
- RS485 A on inverter → RS485 A on Reduxi controller
- RS485 B on inverter → RS485 B on Reduxi controller
- GND can be connected if a shielded cable is used
2. Multiple Inverters Connection
When connecting multiple inverters, use a linear (daisy chain) topology:
Do not use a star connection.
On the first and last device in the sequence, the switch must be enabled as shown in the image.
3. Inverter Settings (multiple options)
3.1 Inverters with display (with LCD display)
To set the RS485 address directly on the inverter:
Procedure:
- Use the inverter display and navigate to:
Settings → Communication → RS485 - Locate the parameter Address (Modbus ID)
- Set the required value (e.g. 1, 2, 3, … depending on the system)
- Confirm and save the settings on the inverter
No additional tools or software are required. All configuration is done locally via the inverter screen.
3.2 Inverters without display (without LCD display)
For inverters without a display, the RS485 address must be set using a PC.
RS485 to USB connection
Required:
- Laptop
- RS485 to USB adapter
- CHINT configuration/service software
Procedure:
- Connect the RS485 USB adapter to the inverter:
- Adapter A → inverter RS485 A
- Adapter B → inverter RS485 B
- Connect the adapter to the PC via USB
- Open the CHINT configuration software on the PC
- Select the correct COM port (e.g. COM3) and set communication parameters:
- BaudRate: 9600
- DataBits: 8
- Parity: None
- StopBit: 1
- Establish connection with the inverter (Connect / Read)
- Locate the parameter Address (Modbus ID)
- Set the required address and write/save the settings to the inverter
If direct connection via RS485 is not supported by the inverter firmware, the address must be set using a compatible gateway or service interface.
4. Optional: FlexOM Gateway Module
As an optional addition, a module called FlexOM Gateway can be installed.
This module enables:
- Remote access to the inverter
- Communication via TCP/IP (Ethernet) (Port: 502)
- Easier configuration and monitoring through a web interface
With the FlexOM Gateway, the inverter can be accessed over the network, eliminating the need for direct RS485 configuration via PC in most cases.
The FlexOM Gateway requires a connection to the Internet using Ethernet. Any LAN firewall ports must be opened both ways (for incoming and outgoing communications) before commissioning the gateway, specifically TCP 1884 with destination IP 47.254.52.209 (mqtt.chintpowersystems.com).

5. Adding a new device (CHINT String Inverter)
To add a new device (Huawei SUN2000) or to edit an existing one, the following points are presented.
5.1 Add new device
Log in to the Reduxi configurator application and press the "Add device" button.
5.2 Select the device you would like to add (Basic settings)
In the first step, select the basic parameters of the device you want to add:
- Device type: Solar power plant,
- Tip: Huawei SUN2000,
- Name: Specify the name of the device.
5.3 Communication channel
Fill in the parameters for communication to SmartLogger, which are:
- Connection: TCP/IP,
- IP: fill in the IP from SmartLogger,
- Port: always 502,
- Modbus unit ID: fill in the Logic address for the Modbus setting of the SmartLogger.
5.4 Communication test
Under all settings in the Communication channel, the "Test communication" button is placed, which is used to perform the test.
The communication test can return two answers:
1. Communication is working properly, the image below:
2. Communication is not working properly, the image below:
5.5 Advanced Settings
The advanced settings are arbitrary and depend on the specific needs of the location where the Reduxi Controller is installed. After finishing all the advanced settings, press the "Done" button on the lower right side.
5.6 Last measurements
After successfully establishing communication with the device, measured values obtained from the device can be double-checked as an additional test. Click on the "Device" section on the home page of the Reduxi configurator, and choose the newly added Huawei SUN2000 inverter in the tree structure.
If we want the device to be managed by a strategy, the management mode must be set to "Automatic", but if we switch to manual mode, we can test the operation of different states.
After successfully adding the device and checking the values, the device can be inspected and controlled via the Reduxi application.
