1. Local access to the Afore inverter
Before starting, make sure you have physical access to the inverter's LCD display, and — if you plan to use Solarman V5 — that your computer is connected to the same local network as the inverter's communication module (or can temporarily join the module's own WiFi access point during setup).
Note: These instructions apply to:
- Afore residential single-phase Hybrid inverters
- Afore low-voltage Hybrid Plus series (4-6kW / 7-12kW)
- Afore three-phase Hybrid series (3-15kW / 3-30kW)
LCD menu wording differs slightly between models — section 2.2 explains how to locate the right screen regardless of the exact menu path.
2. Inverter display configuration
From the home screen, press ENTER to open the main menu. Use UP/DOWN to scroll (hold for fast scroll), ENTER to open an item, BACK to go up a level.
Important:
The Prot Param menu contains protection/safety settings only (grid code, voltage/frequency protection, earth/leakage detection).
It never contains communication settings — do not change values there.
2.1 Menu structure
The main menu mixes read-only info screens (PV Info, Bat Info, Run Info, Grid Info, Load Info, EPS Info, Temp Info, Err Record…) with configuration items such as Run Param, Com Param, Prot Param, Sys Param, Parallel, Sys Cmd, Sys Info.
2.2 Locating the communication parameters screen
The exact location is not consistent across Afore models. Depending on the unit, it can be:
- a standalone Com Param entry in the main menu,
- a submenu inside Sys Param,
- under Run Param → Meter,
- under the multi-inverter parallel setup screen.
Scroll through the menu and look for a screen containing these fields, regardless of its name:
- Port (or similar), with selectable values such as Meter / Modbus / Sunspec / Bat / Parallel
- Addr (device address)
- Baud (baud rate)
- Com1 / Com2 / Com3 / Com4 labels

This screen is what you configure for both the Local serial port and TCP/IP (gateway) connection methods in section 3.
2.3 Configuring the RS485 port
- Port: Modbus (or Sunspec, if the Reduxi device profile expects a SunSpec register map)

Baud: match the value you will enter on the Reduxi controller (start with
9600if unsure)
2.4 Setting up the communication module (Solarman V5 only)
If you are using Solarman V5:
- Connect to the WiFi network broadcast by the module itself (AP_xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the module's serial number).
- Open a browser at http://10.10.100.254.
- Select your own WiFi network and enter its password to join the module to your local network. (A LAN/Ethernet module is simply connected with a network cable.)
- Note the module's serial number (printed on the module/label).
- Assign the module a fixed (static or DHCP-reserved) IP address.
- Confirm the status LEDs show a healthy connection (NET and COM green, Ready blinking slowly).
Important:
Some older module firmware versions have blocked Solarman communication. If the connection fails, ask Afore to update the module firmware.
3. Adding new device to Reduxi controller
To add a new device to Reduxi, follow the steps below.
3.1 Login / Add a New Device
- Log in to the Reduxi Configurator web interface and press the "Add device" button.
3.2 Basic Device Parameters
In the first step, configure the basic parameters of the device:
- Device type: Hybrid Inverter
- Type: Afore Hybrid
- Name: Enter the desired device name
- Press Next
3.3 Communication channel and device configuration
- Connection: choose one of the following:
Local serial port (RS485, configured in section 2.3):
- Baud rate: same value as set on the inverter
- Address: same Addr value as set on the inverter
Solarman V5 (configured in section 2.4):
- IP: the module's IP address

Port:
8899 - Serial number: the module's serial number
TCP/IP (via RS485-to-Modbus TCP gateway):
- IP: the gateway's IP address

Port: typically
502 - Address: same Addr value as set on the inverter (must also match the gateway's RTU-side baud/parity settings)
3.4 Test communication
Press "Test communication". If the device returns a successful readout, the connection is working correctly.
3.4.1 Failed test
If you receive an "Unable to communicate with device" message:
- Local serial port: check RS485 A/B polarity, and that address/baud/parity match on both sides.
- Solarman V5: check the module's IP address, serial number, and status LEDs.
- TCP/IP: check the gateway's IP:port, and that its RTU-side settings match the inverter.
- On the inverter, confirm the selected RS485 port's Port field is set to Modbus (or Sunspec), not Meter or Bat.

7. Check list
To ensure proper setup and reliable operation, please review the following checklist:
On the Reduxi Controller:
- Connection type – Verify the correct Connection method is selected (Local serial port / Solarman V5 / TCP/IP).
- Address / IP configuration – Verify that the correct address, IP and/or port has been entered for the connected device.
- Baud rate – Ensure the baud rate matches the value set on the inverter (or gateway).
- Communication test – Check that the communication test has been completed successfully.
- Device reachability – Make sure the device (or gateway/module) is reachable from the Reduxi controller.
On the Afore inverter display:
- RS485 port protocol – Confirm the correct Com port is set to Port: Modbus (or Sunspec).
- Address and baud rate – Confirm they match what was entered on the Reduxi controller.
- Communication module – For Solarman V5, confirm the module is on the network and its status LEDs indicate a healthy connection.
Strategy Setup:
- Active Strategy – Verify that the selected strategy is set to Active.
- AI Energy Optimization – Ensure that AI Energy Manager optimization is enabled within the strategy.
- Single Active Strategy – Confirm that only one strategy is active at a time.
- Import/Export Limits – Check that the import and export limits are properly defined and configured.
