Reduxi and Metron EVSEs integration enables DLM, protecting installations and optimizing costs under dynamic pricing strategies.

2. Connect the Metron Charger to the local network
Metron EV-charger can connect to Wi-Fi or a local LAN network.
2.1 Connection to Wi-Fi or LAN network
For instructions on how to connect to the local network please follow the link:
The Metron Charge Control application can be accessed via the EVSE access point to enable the configuration of Metron EVSE.
Access point SSID: METRON Portable 1 or METRON Station 1.
Password: 12345678
If a LAN connection is preferred IP is defined with DHCP or the user can manually set the static IP. LAN has always priority over WiFi.
If WiFi is selected, the SSID of Wifi and password need to be written to Metron EVSE for connection, the image below displays fields for WiFi:
3. OCPP settings for Metron EVSE
The OCPP settings must be configured exactly as shown in the image below to ensure proper communication between the OCPP client (in this case, the Metron EVSE) and the server (the Reduxi controller).
Parameters to be defined:
-
Station unique identifier: /ocpp/1.6/json/Station_unique_ID
- OCPP backend hostname: ws://IP_Reduxi
- OCPP backend port: 80
4. OCPP communication between the Metrom EVSE and the Reduxi controller
4.1 Add device
First login to the local Reduxi configurator and add a new device by clicking the 'Add device' button.
4.2 Select the device that you would like to add
Within the first step select basic settings:
- Select Device type: EV charger,
- Select Type: OCPP 1.6 - JSON,
- Name the device.
4.3 Device Configuration for OCPP
The second step is used for the Communication channel, for OCPP communication to work properly. First, fill in the Device identifier (Station unique identifier) obtained from the Metron Charge Control application and paste it into the first field of the communication channel.
Example Device identifier: 1234
When the OCPP JSON 1.6 protocol is utilized, the server OCPP URL is generated by the Reduxi controller. URL can be obtained directly from the Communication channel. Link to 3. OCPP settings for Metron EVSE
Example URL: ws://10.150.120/ocpp/1.6/json/
4.4 Test communication
To ensure that OCPP communication is established, a communication test can be performed via the 'Test communication button' located bottom right after all Communication channel fields.
There are two different cases of communication response.
Case 1: Communication is working properly.
Case 2: No device with OCPP 1.6 communication is found.
5. Readings from Device
The purpose of this point is to show how to check readings from the newly added device. This is done under 'Device/Last measurement'.
For advanced EVSE control, integrate the device into the strategy of the Reduxi system. Under Devices/Metron EVSE in the Reduxi configurator, the control type must be set to AUTO so commands for strategy will affect the EVSE.
To achieve maximal flexibility and energy cost reduction with respect to dynamic price and dynamic tariffs please follow the instructions on how to define strategy at this link: Strategies for Reduxi controller.
After successfully adding the device, it can be monitored and controlled also via the Reduxi application.
