1 Technical documentation
Manufacturer document for the StarCharge Aurora:
- StarCharge Aurora operation manual (English) – Installation, commissioning, charging and maintenance of the Aurora wallbox.
2 Required equipment
You need:
- Reduxi Controller
- StarCharge Aurora AC wallbox, installed
- PC or laptop to open the web interface of the charger
- Ethernet cable (for the LAN connection or for the first login)
- SIM card (only for the 4G connection)
- Laptop or tablet with internet access to configure the device in Reduxi
3 Install the charger
Install the wallbox according to the manufacturer's instructions and put it into operation. Details are in the manual: https://assets-global.website-files.com/5e870ec047674e044920655e/6388d21b3d2bede4cf01cfd5_Star%20Charge%20Wallbox_Operation%20Manual%20(English).pdf
You have three options to connect the charging station to the internet: SIM card, Wi‑Fi or Ethernet.
The photo shows the connection area of the charging station. Insert the SIM card or connect the Ethernet cable next to the AC connection.

8 Add the Aurora to Reduxi
Create the OCPP communication between the StarCharge Aurora and the Reduxi Controller.
8.1 Basic settings
Log in to the local Reduxi Configurator (see Point 7) and click + Add device.
Text description of this image
Screenshot of the Reduxi Configurator sidebar. Header: reduxi Configurator logo. Section Devices (with a minus icon) lists: Iskraemeco AM550 (electricity pylon icon) and two entries with sun icons and no visible names. At the bottom is an Add device button with a plus sign, marked with a cyan rectangle.
In the first step, select the basic settings:
- Device type:
EV charger - Type:
OCPP 1.6 - JSON - Name: a name of your choice, for example StarCharge Aurora
Text description of this image
Screenshot of the Reduxi Configurator, step 1 of 2 Basic settings. Step indicator: 1 Basic settings (active), 2 Communication channel (grey). Form Basic settings: Device type (required): EV charger; Type (required): OCPP 1.6 - JSON; Name (required): StarCharge Aurora. Buttons: Back (left), Next (right, dark).
8.2 Communication settings
The second step sets the communication channel for OCPP. Define the Device identifier. It must be the same ID as the ChargePoint ID on the charging station. The Reduxi Controller generates the URL for OCPP JSON 1.6 automatically. Add /Device ID at the end of this URL.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Device identifier | Same as the ChargePoint ID on the charging station |
| Controller OCPP JSON 1.6 URL | Generated by the controller. Add /Device ID at the end. Example: ws://192.168.1.200/ocpp/1.6/json/my_station_ID1
|

Screenshot of the Reduxi Configurator, step 2 of 2 Communication channel (step 1 Basic settings, step 2 Communication channel). Form Communication channel and device configuration, note: There are no available connections. Fields: Device identifier (required): my_staion_ID1 [as shown], marked with a cyan rectangle; Connector (required): 1; Charger type (required): AC; Energy counter: Default; Allocate power to EVSE when EV is not connected to EVSE: Default; Per phase max. current (required): Manual override; Per phase max. current manual override: 32, hint: In effect when manual override is selected; Forward communication to backend OCPP server: empty; Override authentication username for backend OCPP server: empty; Override authentication password for backend OCPP server: empty; Forward measurements to backend OCPP server once every: empty dropdown; Allow new charging session: Always. Last field, marked with a cyan rectangle: Controller OCPP (JSON 1.6) URL: ws://10.0.0.185/ocpp/1.6/json, with a copy icon at the right. Buttons: Back (left), Done (right, dark).
8.3 Test communication
Click Test communication at the lower right, below the communication channel fields. It checks the OCPP communication and saves nothing. If the test succeeds, click Done: only Done creates the device.
The test returns one of three results:
Case 1: Communication is working properly.

Additional parameter - CURRENT_PHASE_MAX: 0.0; Additional parameter - IMPORT_ENERGY_ACTIVE_SESSION: 0.0. Dark button at bottom right: Schließen [Close].
Case 2: Unable to communicate with device 1, ID of device is not set or is different.

[No communication with the device possible.] Second box, red text: Number of devices found on OCPP - JSON 1.6: 1; Device identifier: 0000241500065. Dark button at bottom right: Schließen [Close].
The ID you assigned in the Reduxi Controller does not exactly match the ID of the charging station. Check both and try again.
Case 3: No device with OCPP 1.6 communication is found.

Screenshot of a German-language Test communication dialog in the Reduxi Configurator, title: Testkommunikation, with a close X. Message in red text in a white box: Keine Kommunikation mit dem Gerät möglich. [No communication with the device possible.] Dark button at bottom right: Schließen [Close].
The settings on the charging station were not saved, the Aurora has no internet connection, or the path to the Reduxi Controller is incorrect. Check the internet connection of the charger, the wiring (if present) and the settings.
9 Check the readings
9.1 Last measurements
After communication is established, check the readings of the new device under Devices – Last measurements in the Reduxi Configurator.
9.2 Enable control by Reduxi
For advanced charger control, integrate the device into the Reduxi strategy. Under Devices in the Reduxi Configurator, set the control type to AUTO. Only then do strategy commands affect the charger.
To use dynamic prices and dynamic tariffs, define a strategy as described in Strategies for Reduxi controller.
After the device is added, you can also monitor and control it in the Reduxi cloud application.
✓ Summary
Preparation (Points 1–3): Read the manual, collect the equipment and install the wallbox.
StarCharge Aurora (Points 4–6): Log in to the web interface, enter the ChargePoint ID and the OCPP data of the controller, then set up 4G, Wi‑Fi or LAN.
Add to Reduxi (Points 7–8): Log in, add an OCPP 1.6 - JSON device with the ChargePoint ID as Device identifier, run Test communication and click Done.
Go live (Point 9): Check the last measurements and set the control type to AUTO.
→ Common issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Test communication: ID of device is not set or is different | The Device identifier in Reduxi must match the ChargePoint ID of the charger exactly (Point 5, Point 8.2). |
| Test communication: no device with OCPP 1.6 communication is found | Check that the settings are saved on the charger, that the Aurora has an internet connection and that the path to the controller is correct (Points 5 and 6). |
| Web interface of the charger does not open | Set the IP address of your PC to 192.168.88.1–200 and open 192.168.88.206 (Point 4.1). |
| Open configurator does not open or stays empty | The tunnel is not active yet. Wait about 30 seconds and check that the controller is online. |
Login with admin is rejected |
The password was changed during installation. Ask the installer. The Reduxi account password does not work here. |
reduxi.local does not load |
Your device is not in the same network as the controller. Use the IP address or the tunnel connection. |
| Communication test fails, device shows offline | Check reachability, IP address / port / unit ID, and that the protocol is enabled on the device. |
