3. System overview
3.1 Modbus RTU
Used for connecting to the CION Home or Semipublic EV Charger
3.2 Modbus TCP
Used for connecting to the CION PRO EV Charger
4. Configuration of Schrack CION charging station
The Schrack charging stations can be connected either via Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP, depending on which charging station you want to connect.
If you want to connect the CION Home or CION Semipublic charging station, proceed to the next step 4.1 Schrack Home or Semipublic configuration
If you want to connect the CION PRO charging station, go to step 4.2 - Schrack CION Pro configuration
4.1 Schrack Home or Semipublic configuration (Modbus RTU)
4.1.1 Wiring Diagram
To connect the Schrack CION Home or Semipublic charging station, you need to run a cable connection between the reduxi controller and the charging station and connect it as follows:
4.1.2 DIP Switch Settings
Furthermore, the corresponding DIP switches on the circuit board must be set as follows:
To activate Modbus RTU, set DIP switches 1 and 2 to OFF. DIP switches 3 and 4 are used to set the bus address.
Once you have made these settings, the Schrack CION Home or Semipublic is ready to communicate with the Reduxi controller.
Then proceed to step 5. Log in to the controller's web interface
4.2 Schrack CION Pro configuration (Modbus TCP)
4.2.1 Wiring Diagram
4.2.2 Settings for Schrack CION PRO
Once the network cabling is complete, the next step is to configure settings on the web interface of the Schrack CION Pro charging station.
- Connect your laptop, tablet or smartphone to the same network as the charging station.
- Open your browser and enter the IP address of your charging station.
If you don't know the IP address, you can find it in your router settings. - After entering the IP address, you will be taken to the charging station's login page.
Use the following login credentials to log in:
Username: operator
Password: Schrack1230! - On the main page, you will find "Load Management" in the list on the left. Click on it.
- In the "Load Management" menu, navigate to the Modbus TCP section and configure the settings as follows:
Modbus TCP Server: ON
Modbus TCP Port: 502
Modbus Server Register: TQ-DM100 -
Once the settings are complete, restart the charging station for the changes to take effect and proceed to the next step.
5. Log in to the controller's web interface
You have two options for this:
- via the Reduxi app or
- directly through your web browser
5.1 via the Reduxi App
- Launch the app on your smartphone or tablet and log in with your credentials
- Tap the three lines in the upper left corner
- Then select Reduxi devices
- In the menu that appears, activate the tunnel connection
- After a short wait, the tunnel connection will become active. Press Open configurator.
-
You will then be on the controller's main interface and can add the Schrack CION charging station.
5.1 via the Webbrowser
- Open the Webbrowser on your device (Laptop, Smartphone or Tablet)
- Enter either the IP address of the Reduxi controller or reduxi.local in the search bar, confirm the entry, and the controller's login screen will appear.
Use the following login credentials:
Username: admin (by default)
Password: admin (by default) - After entering your login details, you will be taken to the controller's web interface and can begin adding the Schrack CION devices
6. Add Schrack EV Charger to Reduxi
Once the physical connection between the Schrack CION charging station and the Reduxi controller has been established, you can begin adding the charging station as a new device.
6.1 Add device
- select +Add device
-
Within the first step, basic settings are defined:
- Select Device type: EV Charger,
- Select Type: Schrack CION or Schrack CION Pro,
- Name the device as you wish as an example: Schrack i-Charge CION
-
Confirm your entries by pressing the Next button.
6.2 Communication settings
The following settings differentiate between whether you want to add a Schrack CION Home or Semipublic charging station or a Schrack CION Pro charging station.
6.2.1 Schrack CION Home or Semipublic (Modbus RTU)
- Connection: Local Port
- Port: 1
- Baudrate: 57600
- Data Bits: 8
- Stop Bits: 1
- Parity: None
- Modbus Unit ID: 1 (as defined in Step 4.1.2 DIP Switch Settings)
- Auto start charging session: No (by default)
6.2.2 Schrack CION Pro (Modbus TCP)
- Connection: TCP/IP
- IP: Enter the IP address of the Schrack CION Pro Charger
- Port: 502
-
Modbus unit ID: 1 (by default)
6.2.2.1 Scan IP
If you don't know the IP address, you can start an IP Scan using the corresponding button.
- The button is located to the right of the IP address input field:
- This will display all devices available on the network, including their manufacturers.
Important: We query the network devices and therefore their respective chipsets. Schrack uses Bender chips, so you should search for these: - If you are unsure, you can test the displayed IPs one by one and perform a communication test, as described in the next step.
6.3 Test communication
After the charging station has been added, you can check the communication between the Reduxi controller and the Schrack CION charging station by pressing the Test communication button.
6.3.1 Successful test result:
In this case, close the results window and confirm the entries with the Done button.
6.3.2 Unsuccessful test result:
In this case, close the results window and check the wiring of the devices, the Modbus settings on the charging stations, and the settings on the Reduxi controller, and repeat the communication test.
7. Readings from Device
This section shows you how to check the device's measured values and whether it is communicating correctly. This can be done under Devices --> Schrack CION --> Last Measurement
For advanced charger control, integrate the device into the strategy of the Reduxi system. Under Devices --> Schrack CION the control type must be set to AUTO so commands for the strategy will affect the charger.
