1. Device Description
The device collects data from the smart meter and converts the meter communication into TCP/IP communication, which is then forwarded to the Reduxi Controller.
The P1 Ultra Pro additionally supports LTE connectivity via a SIM card and external LTE antenna. For LTE configuration, see Section 4.3.
The supported interface and communication protocol depend on the specific smart meter model and country.
Supported Meter Interfaces and Communication Protocols
Meter interfaces:
- P1 / HAN / I1
- TTL (P1) via RJ12
- M-Bus via 2-wire connection, RJ12 or RJ45
- RS485 via 2-wire connection
Communication protocols:
- DSMR (IEC 62056-21)
- DLMS/DSLM Push
Check the Energy Meters section to see which smart meter models are supported.
2. Device Connections
RS485 is used for connecting additional devices and is not required for the basic operation of the P1 Ultra
2.1 P1 / HAN (RJ12)
Communication connector used to connect the device to the smart meter.
Connect it to the activated HAN/P1 port of the smart meter using the supplied RJ12 cable.
Check the Energy Meters section to see which devices are supported. https://support.reduxi.eu/hc/en-us/articles/13569263439249-List-of-supported-devices
The P1 Ultra / Ultra Pro supports communication with compatible smart meters via M-Bus.
M-Bus can be connected using:
- 2-wire M-Bus connection,
Pin 3 – M-Bus +
Pin 4 – M-Bus - - RJ12 connector,
- RJ45 connector.
Connect the two M-Bus wires from the smart meter to pins 3 and 4 of the RJ12 connector.
Important: The M-Bus connection and pin assignment on the smart meter may differ depending on the meter model. Always check the meter manufacturer's documentation before making the connection.
3. Connecting to the Smart Meter
- The HAN/P1 port on the smart meter must be activated.
- Connect the RJ12 cable between the smart meter and the Reduxi P1 Ultra.
- Use the supplied cable or a cable with the same wire sequence on both ends (1:1 connection).
- After connecting the device, the green power LED should turn on..
Note
For some smart meters, activation of the HAN port must be requested from the electricity distribution system operator.
4. Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
Step 1
Connect the device to the power supply.
Step 2
On your phone or computer, search for the following Wi-Fi network:
P1WIFI
Connect to this network.
Step 3
Open a web browser and navigate to:
Step 4
Log in:
Username: admin
Password: The password is located on the device label.Step 5
Enter the credentials of your local Wi-Fi network.
We recommend configuring a static IP address.
Step 5
Enter the credentials for your local Wi-Fi network.
We recommend assigning a static IP address to the device.
Finally, click "Save" in the bottom-right corner.
The device will then connect to the selected Wi-Fi network and use the configured IP address.
4.1 Meter Settings
Under the Meter tab, configure the following settings:
- Country
- Meter type
- Meter name
If encryption is enabled on the smart meter, enter the required encryption parameters as well.
If the meter uses current transformers (CT), click the additional settings icon at the bottom to configure the CT and VT ratios.
4.2 Services Settings
Under Modbus, select one of the following communication options.
Option 1: Modbus TCP/IP
Option 2: Modbus RTU (RS485)
4.3 LTE Connection – P1 Ultra Pro
The P1 Ultra Pro also supports LTE connectivity using a SIM card and an external LTE antenna.
- Insert an active SIM card into the P1 Ultra Pro.
- Connect the external LTE antenna.
- Select LTE as the network connection.
- Enter the mobile operator's required APN settings.
- If required by the operator, enter the Username, Password, and SIM PIN.
- Save the configuration and verify that the LTE connection is active.
The required APN settings depend on the mobile operator.
5. Login/Add a New Device
-
How to log in to Reduxi Configurator via browser? – English
Log in to the Reduxi Configurator web interface and click the "Add device" button.
2 .Select the basic settings.
6. Communication Settings
In the communication channel settings, enter the parameters according to your connection to the smart meter.
Example TCP IP:
You can enter p1wifi.local or the IP address configured in the P1 WIFI Ultra interface.
7. Communication Test
After completing the configuration, click:
Successful Communication
Example of successful communication:
Unsuccessful Communication
Example of unsuccessful communication:
In this case, check the following:
- RJ12 cable connection,
- Wi-Fi connection,
- IP address,
- Message Structure,
- HAN port activation on the smart meter.
8. LED Indicators
The LED indicators show the current status of the device:
- Green – On: The device is powered.
- Blue – Flashing: The device is connected to Wi-Fi but is not currently receiving or transmitting data.
- Purple – Flashing: The device is connected to Wi-Fi and is successfully transmitting data.
- Red – On or flashing: The device is not connected to Wi-Fi.
9. Factory Reset
A Factory Reset is recommended:
- when replacing the smart meter,
- when changing the installation location,
- when experiencing connection problems,
- before reconfiguring the device.
Procedure
- Connect the device to the power supply.
- Press and hold the RESET button for approximately 10 seconds.
- Wait until the red LED turns on.
- Release the RESET button.
