6.4 Test communication
Click Test communication at the bottom right, below the communication channel fields. It checks the OCPP communication.

Progress bar: 1 Basic settings (black), 2 Communication channel (black, active), 3 Advanced settings (grey). Heading: Communication channel and device configuration. Fields: Device identifier *: my_station_ID1 (text field being edited, green outline); Connector *: 1; Charger type *: AC; Energy counter: Default; Allocate power to EVSE when EV is not connected to EVSE: Default; Per phase max. current *: Manual override; Per phase max. current manual override: 32 (hint below, small); Forward communication to backend OCPP server: empty; Allow new charging session: Always; Controller OCPP JSON 1.6 URL: ws:// address followed by /ocpp/1.6/json. Buttons at the bottom: Back (left), Test communication (marked with a blue box) and Next (right).
The test returns one of three results:
- Success: communication works correctly.
- Error 1: the controller cannot communicate with the device. The device identifier is not set or is incorrect.
- Error 2: no OCPP 1.6 compatible device is available.

7 Check the readings
7.1 Last measurements
To check the device readings, go to Device – Last Measurement in the Reduxi Configurator.

7.2 Monitor and control
When the device is added in the Reduxi Configurator, you can monitor it in the web app Reduxi Cloud.
To reduce energy costs with dynamic prices and dynamic tariffs, define a strategy as described in Strategies for Reduxi controller.
✓ Summary
Preparation (Points 1–2): Collect the GARO documents and the equipment: charger, Reduxi Controller, smartphone and a laptop or tablet.
GARO Entity (Points 3–4): Install the GARO Connect app, add the Entity charger and connect it to the same network as the Reduxi Controller.
Add to Reduxi (Points 5–6): Log in to the Reduxi Configurator, add an EV Charger with OCPP 1.6 - JSON, paste the OCPP server URL into the charger and test the communication.
Go live (Point 7): Check the readings under Device – Last Measurement, monitor in Reduxi Cloud and define a strategy.
→ Common issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Test shows "Unable to communicate with device" (Error 1) | The device identifier is not set or is incorrect. Enter the identifier obtained from the GARO charger (Point 6.2). |
| Test shows that no OCPP 1.6 device was found (Error 2) | Check that the charger and the Reduxi Controller are on the same network (Point 4) and that the OCPP server URL is entered in GaroCsmsURL (Point 6.3). |
| The charger is moved or must connect to another network | Do a factory reset: hold the test button for 20 seconds. Then configure the charger again (Point 3.3). |
| Open configurator does not open or stays empty | The tunnel is not active yet. Wait about 30 seconds and check that the controller is online. |
Login with admin is rejected |
The password was changed during installation. Ask the installer. The Reduxi account password does not work here. |
reduxi.local does not load |
Your device is not in the same network as the controller. Use the IP address or the tunnel connection. |
| Communication test fails, device shows offline | Check reachability, IP address / port / unit ID, and that the protocol is enabled on the device. |
