Device measurements, charts and archive
Read a device's live values, plot its history and export the stored data as a CSV file.
→ Overview
Each device has four tabs: Last measurements (live values), Analyze (charts of the stored values), Archive (the stored values as a table, with CSV export) and Details (the device settings). This chapter covers the first three. Details is described in Device settings, edit and delete, and the Control type card on Last measurements in Control type and manual setpoints.
1 Last measurements
Last measurements shows the latest value of every signal the device reports, grouped in cards. The page refreshes about every second.
| Element | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Card | A group of related signals. Common cards: Current, Voltage, Power, Energy, Other. Devices with several parts have cards per part, for example Grid, Battery and Inverter for a battery system. Signals without a card of their own are in Other. |
| Signal name | The name of the measurement, for example Active power or State of charge. |
| Value and unit | The latest value. Power in kW, energy in kWh, reactive power in kVAr, current in A, voltage in V, frequency in Hz. Long values are cut off with …; the full value is in Archive. |
| Date and time | When this value was read, in the time zone of your computer or phone. Values can have slightly different times, because the device sends some signals less often. A time that no longer moves means the signal is not being updated. |
| ON / OFF | Yes/no signals, for example Communication error or Error. |
| Text values | States reported by the device, for example STANDBY, MPPT or AVAILABLE. |
| Empty value | The signal exists but has no value yet, for example a setpoint while no setpoint is set. |
| Control type card | Only for devices the controller can control. See Control type and manual setpoints. |
Signals every device has
| Signal | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Communication error | ON when the controller has not received a valid reading from the device within the device timeout (see Device settings, edit and delete). While it is ON, strategies do not control the device and its values are not up to date. |
| Error | ON when the device itself reports an error or alarm. Strategies can be set to leave such devices out of regulation (strategy Details tab). |
| Control type | The current control type (AUTO, MANUAL, OFF, BOOST), for controllable devices. |
| State name | The operating state reported by the device, for example ON or AVAILABLE. |
Power is shown from the point of view of consumption: positive = the device draws power (grid import, battery charging, EV charging), negative = the device delivers power (grid export, battery discharging, PV production). That is why a producing PV inverter shows a negative Active power together with a positive Export active power. Details per device type are in What each device type shows and controls.
2 Analyze: charts
Analyze plots the stored values of the device for a date range.
| Element | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Date range | The period shown, at the top right. Click it to pick a start and end, or use a shortcut: Last 4 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Today, Yesterday, This month, Last month. The range you pick is kept when you switch to Archive or to another device, until you log out. | today 00:00 to 23:59 |
| Power, Current, Voltage charts | One line per signal, for example the three phase currents in one chart. Click a name in the legend to hide or show that line. | — |
| Energy chart | One point per day: the energy of that day in kWh, calculated from the device's energy counter. With the range Today you see a single point. | — |
| Other charts | One chart per remaining signal. Yes/no signals show Active / Inactive, states show their names, for example AVAILABLE, and Control type shows Auto, Manual, Off. | — |
| Device cards (Grid, Battery, Load, Inverter …) | Devices with several parts, such as batteries and hybrid inverters, group their charts per part. | — |
The controller chooses the time step of the charts from the length of the range:
| Range | One point every |
|---|---|
| shorter than 1 day | 1 minute |
| 1 day or longer | 5 minutes |
| 2 days or longer | 15 minutes |
| 7 days or longer | 1 hour |
| 25 days or longer | 4 hours |
To see how fast a battery or EV charger followed a setpoint, choose a range shorter than one day. Longer ranges average the values and hide short peaks.
3 Archive: table and CSV export
Archive lists the stored values as a table. Use it to read exact values or to export data to a spreadsheet.
| Element | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Date range | The period to list. Same picker and shortcuts as on Analyze. | today, or the range chosen last |
| Aggregation | Without aggregation lists every stored value (at most one per signal per minute). 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours combine the values of each period into one row. | 15 minutes |
| Data types | The signals to list. Click the field to open the list, use Select all / Deselect all or tick single signals. The table reloads when you close the list. With nothing selected the page shows Select at least one data type. | all signals |
| CSV | Downloads the rows loaded for the current range, aggregation and data types as export.csv. |
— |
| Time | Start of the period (with aggregation) or time of the value (without aggregation). Click the column header to sort. | newest first |
| Name | Name of the signal. Click to sort. | — |
| Value | The value with its unit. Power is listed in W and energy in Wh, not kW and kWh. Click to sort. | — |
| Rows per page | Number of rows per page: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or All. | — |
| Prev / Next, page | Move between pages, or type a page number. | — |
How a period is combined depends on the signal:
| Signal kind | Value shown per period |
|---|---|
| Power, current, voltage, temperature (most measured values) | average over the period |
| Energy counters (kWh) | highest counter reading in the period, which is the reading at the end of the period |
| Some signals, for example maximum values | maximum in the period |
| States and yes/no signals | not combined; listed as stored |
Periods are aligned to UTC, not to local time. A 24 hours row covers 00:00–24:00 UTC, which is 01:00–01:00 in winter and 02:00–02:00 in summer in Central Europe. To get local calendar days, use 1 hour and add up the hours in your spreadsheet.
CSV file format
- File name
export.csv, columns separated by semicolons:Unix Timestamp;Time;Name;Value;Unit. -
Time is written as
DD. MM. YYYY HH:mm:ssin the time zone of your computer. - Values are formatted in the language of the Configurator and can contain thousands separators, for example
7,440,892.00. Set the decimal and thousands separators in your spreadsheet import accordingly. - Rows are sorted from oldest to newest.
4 How long data is kept
The controller does not delete measurements by age. It checks the size of its database every 15 minutes. When the database grows beyond the space available on the controller, the oldest 15 % of the stored measurements are deleted. How far back the data goes therefore depends on the number of devices and signals.
All stored values of a device are deleted about 15 seconds after the device is deleted. Export what you need from Archive before you delete a device.
5 Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| All values are old and Communication error is ON | The controller cannot reach the device. Use Test communication on the Details tab. |
| Analyze or Archive shows No data | Check the date range. A device added today has no older data. |
| Energy chart shows nothing for today | The energy of a day is calculated from the counter; with a range of only part of a day there may not be enough points yet. Choose Last 48 h. |
| Power has the wrong sign | The device or its current transformers are installed the other way round. See Device settings, edit and delete, Invert import and export. |
6 Checklist
- Communication error is OFF on every device.
- Power signs match the convention: import, charging and consumption positive; export, discharging and production negative.
- Analyze shows continuous lines without gaps for the last day.
- You know how to export a CSV from Archive for a given period.
