Strategy details: grid, EVSE, PV and HVAC
Set the fuses, the time windows, the control mode and the EV charger, PV and heat pump settings the Energy manager uses while it regulates.
→ Overview
The Details tab holds the settings of an Energy manager that apply in every mode: its name, the main fuses, how strictly the grid limits are held, how batteries and hybrid inverters are controlled, and how EV chargers, PV and heat pumps behave when the grid meter is lost or the site runs off-grid. You also delete the strategy here.
The import and export limits and the goal are not on this tab. They are set per mode on the Optimization modes tab.
1 Change the details
Save stores every field on this tab and restarts the Energy manager. Regulation is interrupted for a moment; the controller does not reboot. The change is recorded in the Audit log.
2 Basic and advanced settings
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Active | On: the strategy runs and controls its devices. Off: the strategy stops regulating. Takes effect when you click Save. | toggle · default on |
| Name | Name of the strategy in the menu, on the strategy card and in the Reduxi Cloud. | text |
| Exclude devices in error from regulation | Yes: a regulated device that reports an error is skipped until the error clears. No: it stays in regulation. Devices that do not communicate are always skipped, whatever this setting is. | Yes / No · No on the strategy created at first start, Yes on strategies added with the wizard |
With Active off, the Energy manager no longer limits grid import or export and no longer controls batteries, PV, EV chargers or heat pumps. The devices fall back to their own behaviour once the last commands expire. EV chargers and heat pumps can then draw power without regard to the main fuses. Switch a strategy off only when you know what the devices will do on their own.
3 Grid
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Fuse L1, Fuse L2, Fuse L3 | Rating of the main fuse of each phase at the grid connection. The controller keeps the current of each phase below it when it allocates power to EV chargers, heat pumps and battery charging. Settings → Grid can overwrite these values. | A · empty = no limit |
| Import power active time window | The time window over which the import limit is held, as used by the grid operator to measure the maximum import power. If import goes over the limit, the controller lowers the limit for the rest of the window so that the average stays within it. 0 = the limit is held at every moment. |
s · default 900 |
| Import power active ramp time | Currently not used by the controller. | s · shown 30 |
| Export power active time window | The same for the export limit. | s · default 60 |
| Export power active ramp time | Currently not used by the controller. | s · shown 30 |
| Override zero-export export limit | During zero export (export limit 0 kW, see Optimization modes, goals and limits), the controller allows a small temporary export so that PV can keep charging the battery. A value here replaces that automatic allowance. | kW · empty = automatic |
| Override zero-export import limit | During zero export, a value here replaces the automatic temporary import limit, so that the battery charges first before PV production is allowed. | kW · empty = automatic |
| Preferred control mode (EMS or setpoint) | How the controller applies the goal to batteries and hybrid inverters. See Preferred control mode. | Auto-detect (default), Force device EMS modes, Force setpoint mode |
A fuse value higher than the fuse installed on site lets EV chargers, heat pumps and battery charging draw more current than the fuse can carry. The main fuse can blow and the site loses power. Check the ratings on site.
The override fields allow export or import beyond the mode's limits while zero export is active. Use them with care, and check the result on site with the grid operator's meter.
Preferred control mode
Some hybrid inverters and batteries measure the grid themselves and have their own energy-management (EMS) modes, such as self-consumption or peak shaving. The controller can either use those modes or calculate a power setpoint for each device itself.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto-detect (default) | The controller chooses automatically, and can change its choice while running. It uses the device's own EMS mode when the regulated device also provides the grid measurement, which is common with a hybrid inverter and its own meter. It uses setpoints when the built-in modes cannot meet the site's needs, for example with a separate grid meter, several devices, or restrictions such as no battery export. |
| Force device EMS modes | Always uses the regulated device's own measurements and EMS modes. |
| Force setpoint mode | The controller always calculates a setpoint for each regulated device from the site measurements. |
Leave Auto-detect (default) unless a device does not follow the expected goal. Even with Force device EMS modes, the controller switches to setpoints when the device's EMS mode cannot respect a battery restriction, for example Maximize consumption with Allocate power only from PV.
4 EVSE
Click EVSE to open the panel. These settings apply to all EV chargers regulated by this strategy.
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Overshoot | How chargers that wait for power are started. Off: a waiting charger is started only when its minimum power is available, and that power is reserved for it; chargers are started one after another. Stage 1: as many waiting chargers are started as the available power allows; the power limit may be exceeded briefly while new sessions start. Stage 2: all waiting chargers are started at their minimum power at once, without rotating power between idle chargers. | Off, Stage 1, Stage 2 · default Off |
| Limit max. combined power | Maximum total power of all EV chargers of this strategy. | kW · empty = no limit |
| Fallback power | Maximum total power of all EV chargers while the main meter does not communicate (Fallback to safe values). | kW · default 0 |
| Off-grid power | Maximum total power of all EV chargers while the site runs off-grid. | kW · default 0 |
| Min. required current per phase | Minimum current needed to start a new charging session. The controller starts a charger only when it can give at least this current on each phase the charger uses (or the charger's own minimum, if higher). | A · default 6 |
| Startup rotation | When there is not enough power to start all waiting chargers, the available power is passed on from one idle charger to the next at this interval. | s · default 15 |
| Pause / resume charging delay | After the controller pauses a charging session for lack of power, the charger stays paused for at least this time. Limits frequent on/off switching of the car. | s · 900 on the strategy created at first start |
| Asymmetry limit for 1 phase chargers | The national rule that limits a lasting imbalance between the phases caused by single-phase chargers. The controller reduces single-phase chargers so the imbalance stays within the rule's limit. | None, AT (OVE R37 16A), CH (NIV/VSE 16A), DE (VDE 20A) · empty = None |
With Fallback power 0, EV charging stops whenever the grid meter does not communicate.
That is the safe choice. A higher value keeps cars charging, but the controller can then no
longer see whether the fuses or the import limit are exceeded. Do not set it above what the
connection can carry together with the rest of the site.
5 PV
Click PV to open the panel.
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Fallback power | Maximum power of all PV inverters while the main meter does not communicate. Use the export your connection allows without control, or 0 on a zero-export site. |
kW · default 0 |
| Off-grid power | Maximum power of all PV inverters while the site runs off-grid. | kW · default 0 |
6 HVAC
Click HVAC to open the panel.
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Fallback setpoint | State of the regulated heat pumps while the main meter does not communicate. | Off, Eco, On, Boost · default Off |
| Off-grid setpoint | State of the regulated heat pumps while the site runs off-grid. | Off, Eco, On, Boost · default Off |
7 Fallback and off-grid behaviour
Fallback to safe values starts when a measurement device of the strategy (see Included items) does not communicate and is not covered by a Grid connection fallback mode. Until the meter is back:
- batteries stop charging and discharging;
- PV inverters are limited to the PV Fallback power;
- EV chargers are limited to the EVSE Fallback power;
- heat pumps are set to the HVAC Fallback setpoint.
Off-grid starts when a regulated device reports that the site runs off-grid. PV and EV chargers are then limited to their Off-grid power, heat pumps are set to the Off-grid setpoint, and the controller does not regulate the batteries.
Both states are shown on the Last measurements tab (Fallback to safe values and Off-grid in the Other card).
8 Delete the strategy
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save | Saves all settings on this tab and restarts the strategy. |
| Delete strategy | Asks "After you delete strategy, the data will no longer be available. Are you sure you want to delete it?". OK deletes the strategy and opens the strategies list; Cancel keeps it. |
The strategy stops at once, its items and its stored history are deleted, and nothing keeps the grid connection within its limits any more. This cannot be undone. To stop it for a while, switch Active off instead. See Strategies: types and adding a strategy.
9 Checklist
- Fuse L1, Fuse L2 and Fuse L3 match the main fuses installed on site.
- The import and export time windows match how the grid operator measures the limits;
0where a limit must hold at every moment. - Preferred control mode (EMS or setpoint) is Auto-detect (default) unless there is a reason to force a mode.
- EVSE and PV Fallback power are safe values for a site without a working grid meter.
- On sites that can run off-grid, the off-grid powers and setpoint are set.
- Save was clicked and Last measurements shows the strategy as Active.
