The Configurator at a glance
Log in, find your way around the menu and read the live energy flows of the site on the Home screen.
→ Overview
The Configurator is the local web interface of the Reduxi Controller. You use it to add the meters, inverters, batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps the controller reads and controls, to set up the energy manager strategy, and to change the network and system settings of the controller.
This chapter shows how to log in, how the screen is laid out and how to read the Home screen, which shows the live energy flows of the whole site.
- A computer, tablet or phone on the same network as the controller (or a VPN or cloud connection to it).
- The controller's address, for example its IP address, typed into the address bar of a web browser.
- A Configurator user name and password.
1 Log in
Login page
| Field / button | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Language list | Language of the user interface. After login, the language saved for your user is applied. | e.g. English |
| Username | Your Configurator user name. | required |
| Password | Your password. The eye icon shows or hides the characters. | required |
| Login | Logs you in. You land on Home. | — |
| Verification code | Only shown on the Two-step verification step when two-factor login is enabled for your user. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, then click Verify. | 6 digits |
Login messages
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid credentials | The user name or the password is wrong. The message does not tell which one. | Check both and try again. Passwords are case-sensitive. |
| Too many attempts. Please try again later. | More than 10 login attempts for the same user name within 60 seconds. | Wait one minute and try again. The account is not locked. |
| Invalid code | The two-factor code is wrong or has expired. | Enter the current code from your authenticator app. |
| Initializing in progress. Please manually refresh this page after few seconds. | The controller software is still starting, for example after a reboot or an update. | Wait a few seconds and reload the page. |
A new controller has the user admin with a default password. Anyone on the same network who knows the default can change every setting. Log in, then change the password under Settings → Profile, or create personal users under Settings → Users (see Users, profile, password and two-factor login).
The Configurator asks you to log in again after some time. Settings you had not saved are lost, so click Save before you leave a page open for a long time.
2 Screen layout
Every page has the same frame:
- 1Left menu: the main navigation. Click + next to a group to expand it and – to collapse it.
- 2Page title and breadcrumbs: at the top of the page, for example Devices / SolarEdge. Click an underlined part to go back one level.
- 3Status icons: in the top right corner (see Status icons).
- 4Page content: the screen you opened.
- 5Footer: in the bottom right corner, the site Location and the controller's Unit ID, for example Maribor, Slovenia | XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-0001.
Left menu
| Menu item | What you find there | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Devices | One entry per configured device, plus Add device and Add EEBUS device. Click Devices itself to open the device list. | Add a device |
| Strategies | One entry per strategy (for example Energy manager) and the entry to add a strategy. | Strategies |
| Utility Rate Plan | Electricity prices used by the controller. | Utility rate plan |
| Settings | Grid, Network, System (Identifier, Open VPN, Connector, Configuration, Time, License, Update, Reboot, Factory reset, Tools, Diagnostics), Profile, Users and About. | Grid settings and the chapters of the groups Settings, System, Connectors and Diagnostics |
The Settings page itself shows three tiles: Users, Profile and System. Click a tile to open that area.
Status icons
| Icon | What it shows | Click to |
|---|---|---|
| Link icon | Internet connection: green when the controller can reach the internet, grey when it cannot. Hover over the icon to read the status. | open Settings → Network |
| Cloud icon | Cloud connection: whether the controller is connected to the Reduxi Cloud. Hover over the icon to read the status. | open the Cloud connector page |
Both icons are refreshed every 15 seconds. When a new software version is available, a green bar with New patch available. Click here to apply. appears at the top of the page (see Updating the controller software).
Footer
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Location | The site name entered on Settings → Grid. If no name is set, the footer shows Please name controller location; click it to open the grid settings. |
| Unit ID | The controller's identifier. Click it to copy it to the clipboard (Unit ID copied to clipboard). Give this ID to Reduxi support when you ask for help. |
3 Home: live energy flows
After login you land on Home. It shows a live diagram of the site with the house (your site) in the centre and one circle per device category around it.
| Element | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Clock | The time of the last refresh, in the time of your computer or phone. The page refreshes about every second. If the clock stops, the browser has lost the connection to the controller. |
| Grid | Power at the grid connection: the sum of all devices in the category Grid, import or export. |
| Solar | Power produced by all devices in the category Solar power plant. |
| Battery storage | Charging and discharging power of all batteries, and the state of charge in % below the icon. With several batteries the state of charge is weighted by battery capacity; if a battery does not report its capacity, a plain average is shown. |
| EV charger | Power drawn by all EV chargers. |
| HVAC | Power drawn by all heat pumps and HVAC devices. The small box below the HVAC icon is reserved for heat power and shows - on this live view. |
| Other | All remaining consumption of the site. When the site has a grid meter, it is calculated: Grid − EV charger − Solar − Battery storage − HVAC. Without a grid meter it is the sum of the devices in the category Other. |
| Centre (house) | Total consumption of the site: EV charger + HVAC + Other + battery charging. In the example, 3.0 kW HVAC + 3.1 kW other loads = 6.1 kW, which is the 2.6 kW grid import plus the 3.5 kW solar production. |
| Strategy buttons | One button per strategy below the diagram, for example Energy manager. Clicking it switches the strategy on or off after you confirm Are you sure you want to change strategy status? |
- All values are shown in kW without a sign. The direction of each flow (for example import or export at the grid) is shown by the dots and arrows on the lines, not by a + or −. To see the sign, open the device: on its Last measurements tab grid import is positive and export negative.
- - instead of a value means there is no device in that category, or the devices in it send no values.
- Click a circle to open the first device of that category.
The strategy buttons below the diagram are not just labels. Switching a strategy off stops the controller from regulating: batteries, PV curtailment, EV chargers and heat pumps are no longer kept within the grid limits and fuses. If you click a strategy button by mistake, click Cancel in the confirmation dialog.
Switch on a large load (for example an EV charger) while the PV produces little. Open the grid meter: its Active power must rise and be positive (import). If it is negative, the meter or its current transformers are connected the wrong way round. See Device settings, edit and delete, section Invert import and export.
4 The device list
Click Devices in the left menu to see all configured devices as cards.
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Device card | Shows the icon of the category, the device Name, its Type (model) and its Categories. Click the card to open the device (see Device measurements, charts and archive). |
| Trash icon | Deletes the device after you confirm. The device stops, is removed from all strategies and its stored history is deleted. See Device settings, edit and delete. |
| Add device | Opens the Add device wizard (see Add a device). |
Deleting a device cannot be undone. All measurements recorded for it are deleted about 15 seconds later. Check the name on the card before you confirm.
