Cloud connection
Connect the controller to the Reduxi Cloud for remote access, data upload, updates and AI schedules, or switch the connection off.
→ Overview
The Cloud connection page switches the controller's link to the Reduxi Cloud on or off and shows whether the link is up. The cloud is where the site owner and the installer see the site remotely, where data history is stored and from where software updates, electricity prices and AI schedules come.
The connection is on by default. The controller opens it by itself as soon as it has internet access; there is nothing else to configure on this page. The cloud server address is fixed for your brand and cannot be changed.
This page only opens the connection. Adding the controller to a customer or installer account is done in the Reduxi Cloud application, using the Unit ID shown on Settings → System → Identifier.
1 Check or switch the cloud connection
The screenshot comes from a test system without internet access, so Connected shows a red cross. On a controller in the field with Yes selected and working internet access, it shows a green tick.
2 Parameters
| Parameter | What it does | Unit / default |
|---|---|---|
| Connected | Live status of the cloud connection. Green tick = connected, red cross = not connected. Read-only. | — |
| Refresh icon (Connected row) | Reads the connection status again. Does not change anything. | — |
| Do you want to connect to cloud? | Yes keeps a permanent, encrypted connection from the controller to the Reduxi Cloud. No closes it and keeps it closed, also after a reboot. | Yes / No · default Yes |
| Save | Stores the setting and restarts the cloud connection. The change is recorded in the Audit log as CONNECTOR_EDIT. Devices and strategies keep running. |
— |
If you are using the Configurator through the Reduxi Cloud (remote access), saving No cuts the connection you are working over. You lose access at once and cannot switch it back on remotely. Change this setting only on site, over the local network, or over a VPN (Settings → System → Open VPN).
3 What the cloud connection provides
While Connected shows a green tick, the controller:
- lets the cloud open the Configurator remotely (remote access for the owner, installer and Reduxi support);
- uploads live values and the measurement history of devices and strategies;
- receives the list of available software versions for Settings → System → Update and auto update;
- receives AI forecasts and AI energy manager schedules, and electricity prices set in the cloud application;
- lets the cloud read and write the controller configuration (remote backup and restore);
- reports Health check events to the cloud as they open and close;
- copies new Audit log entries to the cloud every 15 minutes;
- accepts time, time zone and GPS location settings sent from the cloud.
When the connection is off or down, local regulation continues: devices are read and controlled and strategies keep running with their saved settings. Only the cloud functions above stop.
Remote access, data upload to the cloud, updates from the cloud, AI schedules and prices delivered by the cloud stop until you switch the connection on again. Actions made from the cloud are no longer possible, and audit log entries are no longer copied to the cloud.
4 Network requirements
The controller connects outwards over a secure WebSocket (HTTPS, port 443) to the cloud server of its
brand (reduxi.app for Reduxi). No incoming port has to be opened on the site router.
- If the site uses an HTTP proxy, set it on Settings → Network → Proxy server. The cloud connection uses it automatically.
- If Connected stays red, check Internet connection on Settings → Network, then use Settings → System → Tools → TCP port test with host
reduxi.appand port443.
5 Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| Red cross after Save with Yes | Wait a minute and click the refresh icon. The connection is retried automatically. |
| Red cross stays | Internet access of the controller (Settings → Network), proxy settings, firewall rules for outgoing HTTPS. Test with the TCP port test. |
| Connected, but the site is not in the cloud application | The controller is not yet added to an account. Add it in the cloud application with its Unit ID. |
6 Checklist
- Do you want to connect to cloud? is set to Yes (unless the customer explicitly wants no cloud).
- Connected shows a green tick after a refresh.
- Outgoing HTTPS (port 443) is allowed by the site firewall, and the proxy is set if the site needs one.
- The controller appears in the Reduxi Cloud application under the right account.
