Reboot and factory reset
Restart the controller, or erase it completely and return it to its factory state.

- Reboot restarts the controller. All settings, devices, strategies and stored data are kept.
- Factory reset erases all data and settings and returns the controller to the state it left the factory in. Use it only when the controller is handed over to another site or when Reduxi support asks you to.
Both actions ask for a confirmation and are recorded in the Audit log.
1 Reboot the controller
During the reboot the controller is offline: the Configurator, the cloud connection, remote access and all connectors drop, and the controller does not control any device until it has started again. What each device does meanwhile depends on its own fallback settings. Reboot at a time when a short loss of control is acceptable.

If the controller software starts more than 3 times in one day, Health check shows the warning CONTROLLER_REBOOT_EXCESSIVE. Look for the cause, for example power cuts or repeated updates.
2 Factory reset
All data and settings on the controller are deleted, including devices, strategies and the measurement history. Then the controller reboots.
- Download a backup first (Settings → System → Configuration → Backup). Without it, the configuration is lost for good.
- Plan as if the network, cloud and Open VPN settings are gone too: after the reset the controller may no longer be reachable over the site network, the cloud or the VPN. Be on site, with a laptop, before you start.
- The controller does not control any device until it has been set up again.

3 Checklist
- Reboot: after the reboot you can log in, the header icons show network and cloud connected, and devices and strategies run again.
- Factory reset: a current backup was downloaded and stored before the reset.
- Factory reset: you were on site and the controller was set up again or the backup was restored.
